About

The Collective Futures Fund is an initiative directly supporting visual artists and artist-run activity in the Greater Boston area through grants of $2,000 and $7,500. We help incubate artists’ visions for their own independent platforms and research to support the futures of our vibrant local artist communities.

Applications are open in three categories: Sustaining Practice, New Projects, and Ongoing Platforms. Visual artists, independent curators, and collectives across Norfolk, Suffolk, Essex, Middlesex, and Plymouth counties are welcome to apply.

The Collective Futures Fund is administered by the Tufts University Art Galleries and is a part of the Regional Regranting Program of the Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts. The Sustaining Practice tier is supported by an anonymous donor.

In fall 2020, our first project was to administer a one-time $60,000 grant to provide emergency support to visual artists in the region. Through a lottery system, the Collective Futures Fund distributed forty $1,500 grants in December 2020. These grants helped visual artists whose income was impacted by the coronavirus pandemic and who needed assistance with basic expenses such as food, housing, medical costs, connectivity, and child care.

Since then Collective Futures Fund has administered 3 cycles of grant funding.
